Training for my half...

My half is 8 weeks out and I am soooo far behind. One plus is I have a buddy a work that is running with me so it keeps me accountable on these cold mornings when I am tempted to stay in that warm cozy bed....Can you tell I really like that warm bed...LOL. I'm running the half even if I have to walk part of it...I have my mind made up.

Well that about sums it all up.

Have a blessed day!

My longest yet...

I get up this AM and stuck my head out contemplating whether to run or not. You know I had all the good excuse...it is real foggy (which I knew it would not be in town) and it was a cool 50 degrees (not cold for most but remember I'm a southern boy transplanted in Ill.) but I decided to go give it a try and just see how I do. Well I get out there and I am feeling great so I turn down a road I never go to add more to my run. When I finally turn back toward the Jeep the good feeling feels like it's coming up out of my stomach. But...I keep pushing and when I got back to my Jeep I had ran my longest yet...3.63 miles. I know it may not be a lot for you marathoners but it is a milestone for me!

Have a awesome blessed day!

Still going...

I have been continuing to run more and more. I went my longest 3.4 miles a couple of days ago. Went I eat properly I can tell it on my runs, problem is I struggle with the eating. I have never been overweight (bad) so I have always just ate the way I wanted...which means a bunch of junk food. So starting in the AM I will begin eating better. I know I need to eat for fuel not pleasure but it is hard. Well I'll post in a couple of days and let you know how it is going.

Still in there...

I'm still running..LOL. I have begun my training for my half in 11 weeks. I have to admit I have not been as dedicated as the program calls for but hey I'm trying. I'm really concerned about training through out fall and into the winter...remember I am a southern boy transplanted in Illinois...I do not do cold well. I have bought all the winter stuff...gloves, hat, tights, and cold weather shirts...I just struggle getting out there. SO if you have any suggestions let me know.

That's all for tonight.

Today I begin clean eating to train for half...

Although my half marathon training does not officially begin till next Monday I wanted to try to start eating better beginning this week. Today went ok I miss the diet cokes. I drank some diet coke at lunch but no were near what I usually drink. I know it will be a struggle because in the past I ate for pleasure not fuel so it will take some getting use to.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Ran my second 5k this AM...

My wife and I got to the race this AM and I was shocked at how many runners were there. So I got checked in and done a short warm up. I lined up toward the back, I have a motto..."I'd rather pass than be passed"...so I start in the back. LOL! I had a self goal of finishing in under 30:00 minutes...I know not very fast but hard for me. So the race begin and as I always do I ran the first mile way too fast for myself, then at about 1.75 miles I was sucking air...LOL! I did have to take a few short walk breaks but I finished. I came it at 29:05 (unofficial)! I made my goal! This is were I pat myself on the back...LOL!

Ok that is my 5k update.

Have a great day!

Well it has been another day...

I got up this AM and ran 3.4 miles. I have a 5k Monday and I will be gearing up to start my 12 week half training the next week. I want to start cleaning my diet up before I start the training I just have not decided whether to start tomorrow or Monday. Guess I'll decide in the AM...LOL. I plan on resting tomorrow to gear up for the race, I do not expect to place but I do have a personal goal...finish less than 30 minutes...we will see I guess, I went 33:34 this AM.

Leave me a message!

Later and God bless!

Man I stink at blogging....

I can not believe it has been May since I post last. Well I am making a resolution today...I will do better at the updates. I have one more week before I start my half training. This Sunday I will begin trying to eat better and get ready for the training. I am worried about the training...I need to build up quickly.

Other things in life....let me see...work is busy, church is busy, and family is busy. I guess you could say I'm busy.

I will be running my second every 5k Monday...I am nervous because I'm afraid I will not be able to run the whole thing and I don't want to come in last.

Ok I know I ramble...jump around and everyone reading is saying what...where is he going now?

It's been a few days...

Well I have not blogged in awhile. I'm still watching what I eat just not as strict as I was before. I'm really trying to push running in my life so I'm eating...just trying to eat for fuel. Oh and by the way...I ran 3.6 miles this AM! I am going into week 8 on C25K program. Once I complete it I will work on getting my runs up to 5 miles, when I can do the 5 miles I will begin a 12-14 week training program to run a half. I have signed up for a half in Memphis this December. And that reaches my goal for running this year. Of course if I get there quicker than expected I will build more. Ok I want to go ahead and say it...I've been thinking it...my ultimate goal is the run a marathon...yes a full 26.2 miles. Whew...I said it! I know that is way done the road probably next year but it is down the road. I will do it!

Again I'm sending this from my phone with no spell check and I can not spell.

Still going...

I still struggle at eating clean but it is getting easier for me. I went to the gym today and got in a great workout...especially my core...I'll be sore. I begin week 7 of my C25K program in the AM, it is a short walk warm up then all running, no walk breaks. I am so ready to get being able to run a 5K (all of it) with out walking behind me so I can start building miles for my half this December. I know to build slowly to avoid injury but I'm ready to get more miles! Well I'll check in tomorrow night and let you know how my morning run goes.

If anyone out in Internet land is reading these blogs leave me a comment so I'll know I am not just talking to myself.

Been a couple of days...

It's been a couple days since I've posted. I ran 2.75 mile Friday morning and had a good day eating correctly. Today I walked 3 miles with my wife Tracy. We went over and spent the day in O'Fallon shopping and ofcourse eating. The eating hurt my dieting but one day will not kill me so I'm not going to worry over it.
Plan on going running in the AM before church.

Have a great night.

This week is winding down.

I went out at 5:30am for a 2.52 mile run. This was the last running day on my training program that includes a walk break. The weather was awesome, about 62 degrees with fresh water puddles everywhere. My eating is still going well. I have to be careful because I could easily go back to over eating.

Well to all my readers...have a good night!

Eating Right

Well I'm finishing up on day 3 of trying to eat right and watch my food intake. I have to say you have to be real careful which foods you choose and your decisons get wiser when your counting every calorie. I did not run this morning as it was raining so I went to the gym at lunch. I had a great workout and I'm sure I'll be sore in the AM. Well that's about it today.

Another day in the books.

I got up this morning and went for a 2.46 mile run. I thought I was going to get rained on but I never did. Other than being cloudy the weather was great for running. My calves and feet are somewhat sore but I feel great. Only one more run on the program that has a walking break after that it's pure running.

I hope everyone has had a great day!

Sunday has been a lazy eat way too much day!

Yeah your eyes spoke correctly to your brain, Sunday..lazy...over eat. Of course it's Sunday so I preached this morning and will go back tonight to hold the service, but other than that I have been a lazy pig. We ate a good lunch then went to Lowes and got some fence so I can fence in a area for the dogs in our back yard. Then we leave Lowes and I had to stop by DQ. I had a sundae in a waffle cone probably a billzion calories. Then we come home and I eat a piece or cake and chips. Now we are getting ready to eat cheeseburger helper. OK.HERE IT IS: I will start eating healthy tomorrow Monday 5/11/09. I know food is fuel not pleasure but it is hard. I am not fat but I want to see my abs and to do that I got to get from this 203 down to 175-180 range. Which is where the charts at the doctors office says I need to be anyway. I want to eat to fuel my runs and I'm making that commitment today.

I pray tomorrows post we talk about how great and clean I have ate.

Have a wonderful blessed day!

My run today...

Went out about 6:30am today. The weather was great, mostly cloudy and 61. I had already completed my training schedule for this week so today was extra, so I decided to just go no schedule. I went 3.6 miles mostly running with a few walk breaks. As I sit here on the computer my legs are asking me WHY? My reply...for the rush. See I begin running because I wanted to be healthy but I begin to get into the training I noticed something....I felt awesome all day after the run. This is were I get the web address run for the rush for this blog. Running is a addicting drug and I might add my drug of choice. I start week 6 of the 9 week program I am doing that conditions me for a 5k. I will run several 5k's this summer around Southern Illinois and St. Louis. Once I finish this 9 week program I will start training for the Half Marathon I have signed up for in Memphis Tn this December.

Have a great day!

Begining of a Era

I begun this blog today for support and accountability. I'll update all runs here so everyone can see. I look forward to blogging and then going back through them and seeing the progress.

Have a great day!
